As a Supervisory Publishing Specialist within the Science Publishing Network, some of your specific duties will include:
Manages all publishing activities for designated PSC customers, including planning, budgeting, staffing, equipment, training, and technology advances. Develops plans and estimates information product costs in consultation with authors. Coordinates and monitors work of staff. Resolves problems, communicates with authors, and maintains quality control and deadlines. Works closely with the SPN chief on human and fiscal resource planning and execution for the PSC; adheres to Federal, DOI, USGS, and SPN publishing policies and requirements; coordinates closely with peers to share workloads and expertise. Works with contractors and printers. Supervises publishing staff; assigns work, monitors progress, and provides instructions and guidance, and reviews final product. Evaluates performance, recommends awards, advancement, and disciplines staff as appropriate. Identifies training needs. Represents SPN to bureau authors, science managers, USGS leadership, and DOI officials on publishing matters. Serves on committees and teams related to publishing issues. If you are qualifying based on specialized experience, you must meet the following requirements:
GS-13:
To qualify for this position you must have 1-year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in Federal service. Examples of specialized experience may include:
edit highly complex scientific/technical material for a scientific audience or versed layperson; evaluate/adapt publishing procedures to changing technology; implement an effective customer service program with metrics; personal involvement in the production of elements of technical and/or scientific publications such as text, illustrations, maps, imagery, layout, and/or graphic design; use of an XML-based publishing workflow; project planning, cost estimation, and tracking; successfully managing multiple projects with competing deadlines; managing and motivating a team of publishing professionals. You must meet all qualification and eligibility requirements for the position by the closing date of the announcement.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
