Supervisory Physical Scientist, GS-1301-14 (USGS-MP-YMJ)

As a Physical Scientist within the Wetland & Aquatic Research Center, some of your specific duties will include:
-Coordinates with Bureau leads at USGS Reston and other science centers nationwide, Agency clients on advisory panels and workgroups, USGS Mission Area committees, and DOI RESTORE Council innovating data management standards, visualization tools, and related advanced computer applications for web-based and mobile phone platform and software development. -Work directly with the Director/Deputy Director to provide decision-support tool innovation and operations guidance to the Center, including planning applications for tracking proposals, study plans, budget worksheets, cooperative agreements, workforce planning, renewals and updates. -Lead software development to support multidisciplinary science projects conducted by WARC staff and partners. In this role, the incumbent directs the design, integration and management of enterprise databases, continuous integration systems, production hosting platforms running across multiple operating systems both on premises and in the cloud, as well as security assessment and reconciliations. -Provide expert consultation to Bureau leads on new and innovative software development, data management and infrastructure needs for USGS policy writing and Information Technology teams. Also work with other USGS Mission Areas and/or Science Centers across the country and DOI RESTORE Council for the benefit of advising and coordinating data management standards and innovative tool development. -Supervise federal employees, federal task order managers, on-site contractors, research associates and technicians, graduate students, and part-time aides assigned to projects and serves as a Task Manager tor WARC's support services contract activities and as a Project Officer on contracts and cooperative agreements related to ACA projects undertaken at WARC. One year of appropriate professional experience that is in or directly related to the duties of the position to be filled is qualifying if it is equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal service, and if it equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. Examples of such experience may include serving as a senior expert involved in physical science work for which technical problem definitions, methods and/or data were highly incomplete, controversial, or uncertain and whose evaluations and recommendations were accepted by others as those of a technical expert in the physical sciences. At this level, physical scientists typically represent an authoritative source of consultation for other scientists and program specialists, are called upon to resolve issues that significantly affect physical science programs, make long range and controversial proposals and defend their findings and recommendations in public or high level forums. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
