This Act allows certain veterans to apply for positions announced under merit promotion procedures when the agency is recruiting from outside its own workforce. To be eligible to apply, an applicant must:
(1) Be a veterans' preference eligible; or (2) Be a veteran separated from the armed forces after 3 or more years of continuous active service performed under honorable conditions. MAJOR DUTIES (include but are not limited to):
Conduct private land habitat restorations including landowner contracts, mapping, surveys, staking, etc. Assist in the consultation process pursuant to Section 7 of the Endangered Species Act of 1973. Perform data analysis and write objective reports to evaluate findings. Assist in developing comprehensive wildlife management plans to insure conservation, protection, and enhancement of wildlife and wildlife habitat for a geographical area having a variety of habitat conditions. Help gather, organize, and interpret biological, ecological, pathological, public use or other pertinent information to insure management plans are current. Only experience and education obtained by July 15, 2019, will be considered. BASIC EDUCATION REQUIREMENT Possess a degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, orrelated disciplines appropriate to the position. OR A combination of education and experience that is equivalent to a major in a biological science. The quality of the combination of education and experience must be sufficient to demonstrate that the applicant possesses the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform work in the occupation, and is comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of a full 4-year course of study with a major in the appropriate field. In addition to courses in the major and related fields, a typical college degree would have included courses that involved analysis, writing, critical thinking, research, etc. These courses would have provided an applicant with skills and abilities sufficient to perform progressively more responsible work in the occupation. Therefore, creditable experience should have demonstrated similarly appropriate skills or abilities needed to perform the work of the occupation. MINIMUM
Qualifications:
Have at least one year of full-time specialized experience comparable in difficulty and responsibility to the next lower grade level (comparable to GS-05) in the Federal service. The experience equipped me with the knowledge, skills and ability to successfully perform the duties of this position. Examples may include:
assisting in the management and research of wildlife species; conducting field investigations on wildlife biology; interacting with people of various levels of authority; and preparing a variety of narrative, procedural, and technical reports. OR Have successfully completed one full year of graduate education in an accredited college or university in a field directly related to biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines. OR Meet one of the requirements for Superior Academic Achievement (To meet the requirements for the Superior Academic Achievement provision, you must have:
graduated with an overall GPA of at least2.95; OR, graduated with at least a 3.5 GPA in your major or during the last two years of college; OR, graduated in the top third of your class; OR, was a member of a national scholastic honor society recognized by the Association of College Honor Societies.) OR Possess an equivalent combination of work experience and graduate education that, when prorated, combine to meet the qualification requirements for this position. Experience and education should be computed as percentages of the overall requirements and must equal 100 percent when combined. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Promotion Potential:
This position involves a multi-grade career ladder. The major duties listed represent the full performance level of GS-11. At lower grade levels, you will perform assignments of a more limited scope and with less independence. You will progressively acquire the background necessary to perform at the full performance level of GS-11. Promotion is at the discretion of the supervisor and is contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of higher level work, and availability of funds.The selectee may be promoted without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
