Law Enforcement Coordination Specialist

If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for enforcing the law and defending the interest of the United States, proving federal leadership in preventing and controlling crime, seeking just punishment for those guilty of unlawful behavior, and administering and enforcing the Nation's laws to ensure fair and impartial administration of justice for all Americans. Typical work assignments will include:
Serves as the Manager of the District's Law Enforcement Coordination (LEC) Program. Promotes community engagement for law enforcement priorities and crime prevention opportunities. Speaks to a variety of law enforcement audiences, public, civic, industry and special interest groups about law enforcement issues to publicize federal efforts to develop and improve law enforcement programs. Coordinates, facilitates, advises and participates in the design, development and operation of law enforcement programs. Identifies the informational and resource needs of law enforcement organizations and develops and implements program activities that promote the effective utilization of law enforcement resources. Maintains effective relationships and communication with members of the law enforcement community. Designs and presents large conferences and training programs to address law enforcement and criminal justice system needs, developing and disseminating advances in law enforcement methodology. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress. GS-12:
To be eligible at the GS-12 level, you must have at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level as defined below. This experience could have been gained in the federal, public or private sector. Specialized Experience is defined as experience that equipped you with the competencies needed to perform the job duties. Examples of specialized experience include promoting the effective utilization of federal state, and/or local enforcement resources; building or promoting community engagement as a part of an organization's initiatives, law enforcement priorities, and crime prevention opportunities; designing and implementing approaches to facilitate communication and problem resolution for a variety of law enforcement organizations at the federal, state, and/or local levels; conducting specialized trainings, meetings and networking with law enforcement officers to promote and focus on current crime and officer safety trends; preparing and presenting information to community groups, nonprofits, government entities and/or the press on behalf of an organization and directing development of written materials regarding law enforcement programs, initiatives, or innovations. This experience may have been gained working as a senior law enforcement officer (e.g. police chief, division commander) or managing a Law Enforcement Coordination program among federal, state, and/or local law enforcement agencies. Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
