Position Summary

Currently seeking school principal candidates that can lead and manage the learning, growth, and achievement of students at the middle school level (5-8) at a K-8 School.

Key
Responsibilities:

The Middle School Principal will be responsible for ensuring the success of the school, as demonstrated by high academic achievement and a strong school culture by working with the School Director and mid-level school leaders to provide leadership in the following areas:

Strategic Leadership : develop and communicate the school's vision and goals, setting strategies to achieve goals, regularly reviewing progress, and adapting as needed;
Cultural Leadership : ensure all faculty, students, and parents are aligned with the school's vision and values, fostering healthy relationships across the school, providing a calm and orderly environment for teaching and learning, and nurturing a culture that is aspirational and motivational;
Instructional Leadership: ensure high achievement through continually improving instruction, systematic use of formative assessment data, providing layers of learning support, and collaborating with colleagues across the FirstLine network to continue the development of a rigorous curriculum aligned to the Common Core standards;
Talent Management : ensure clarity of job design for all lower school staff, recruiting and selecting talented team members, providing high quality professional development, and managing the performance of all teachers and staff;
Team Leadership: motivate and inspire action, commitment and initiative while managing continual change and improvement, building a culture of trust where productive conflict can thrive, and delegating to mid-level leaders as appropriate to better achieve school goals and develop others.

Qualifications
The successful candidate will have the following skills and
Experience:
Demonstrated record of success raising test scores in an open-admissions urban school
At least five years experience as a teacher in an open-admissions urban elementary school
At least two years of mid-level or senior leadership in an open-admissions, urban school, with experience in developing instructional expertise
Record of success in leading adults; experience with management and supervision
Knowledgeable about Common Core Standards and aligned instruction practices
Expertise in primary curriculum and instruction
Leadership experience with significant areas of responsibility
Belief that all children can achieve at the highest levels
Aligned with FirstLine Values of Service, Collaboration, Learning and Results
Enjoyment with the process of on-going innovation
Strong communication and organizational skills
Exhibits a growth mindset
Proficiency in using data in the decision-making process
Preferred, but not required: MA, MBA or MEd

Reports to: School Leader (Director)Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
