This is a permanent, full time position located at the Louisiana Ecological Services Office in Lafayette, LA.

U.S. Citizenship Required Background Investigation Required
Plans and conducts investigation of various land and water development/restoration projects
Provides technical assistance in the consultation process pursuant to Section 7 of the Endangered Specifies Act; Coastal Barrier Resources Act; Fish and Wildlife Coordination Act; and the National Environmental Policy Act
Conducts field work to explore wetland restoration project concepts
Coordinate closely with a broad cross section of agencies, organizations and individuals associated with coastal restoration in Louisiana
Responds to written, telephone and in-person inquiries

_Basic Requirements for this position:_
Basic Entry Requirements for the GS-0401 series. You must meet A or B below to qualify for the position.
A. Completion of a full 4 year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree that included a major field of study or specific course requirements in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.OR
B. A combination of education and experience which includes courses equivalent to a major, as described above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. The quality of the combination of education and experience must have been sufficient to demonstrate that the applicant possesses the knowledge, skill, and abilities required to perform General Biologist work, and is comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of a full 4 year course of study with a major study in one of the appropriate fields.
_Specialized Experience Requirements:_ In addition to meeting one of the basic entry requirements listed above, you must have the appropriate education and specialized experience as described below.
One year of professional experience equivalent to the GS-5 level in the Federal service. Examples of specialized
Experience: conduct biological surveys; gather and record biological data regarding development impacts on wildlife and their habitat; prepare routine wildlife-related reports and plans; OR
One year of graduate education in wildlife biology or a directly related field; OR
Graduated with a bachelor's degree which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work AND I have documented Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) during my undergraduate studies. I meet the SAA by one of the following three methods: (1) class standing - upper third of the graduating class based on completed courses in the college, university or major subdivision; (2) grade point average - 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 (B or better) as recorded on my official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; OR 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 (B or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; OR (3) election to membership in a national scholastic honor society (note: membership in a freshman honor society cannot be used to meet the requirements of this provision). Submit a copy of your transcript and proof of GPA computation, Class standing, or Honor Society membership; OR
An equivalent combination of the type and level of experience and education described above.

The incumbent will be required to obtain and wear an official U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service uniform.
Incumbent must be able to operate a government-owned or leased motor vehicle. A valid state driver's license is required.
This positions sensitivity level has been designated as non-sensitive. Accordingly, the selectee must undergo a background investigation prior to appointment.

Knowledge in fish and/or wildlife biology with related disciplines in order to determine the effects of land and water development and/or restoration projects on the fish and/or wildlife resources of an area.
Knowledge of wetland ecology in order to work with professionals and technicians in those fields.
Skill in observing effects on fish and/or wildlife habitat and to recognize problems, draw conclusions and prepare or review reports.
Skill in verbal communications including skill in presenting data and its analysis.
Ability to communicate in writing, to include objective reports requiring a minimum of review and editing.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
