DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES : Maps & interprets high-resolution conventional & AUV marine geophysical data as well as 3D exploration seismic data for geohazards & geologic features. High-res data types include side scan sonar, magnetometer, single beam & multibeam bathymetry, sub-bottom profiler, and 2D seismic.
Interacts with & advises internal & external clients regarding technical issues related to geohazards.
Assimilates a variety of geophysical & geotechnical data types to form an integrated
interpretation/assessment of site conditions with regard to drilling hazards, pipeline route studies, &
ther client-driven projects.
Become an expert on geohazard-related BOEM (federal government) regulations for oil & gas
exploration.
Authors technical reports, letters, exploration plans, maps, cross sections, & geophysical graphics.
Analyzes & solves data quality problems, software issues, & other technical difficulties.
Develops a working knowledge of seismic time-depth conversions as applied to marine drilling
hazards.
Occasionally participates in seafloor sediment core acquisition & geotechnical field analysis of
sediment samples.
Works with a team of interdisciplinary technical professionals including (but not limited to)
Geoscientists, Marine Archaeologists, AutoCAD Drafters, & GIS analysts to complete interpretation
projects on schedule.
Develops new workflows and geologic/geophysical interpretation methods for intercompany use to
keep abreast of technology changes, BOEM requirements, & interpretation software advancements.
Researches proprietary & non-proprietary information for a variety of project types.
Exercises sound geologic and engineering judgment.
Performs various other tasks as directed by the Geoscience Group Manager &/or Supervising
Geoscientist.
position requirements
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE : Must have a completed BS degree or higher in Geology, Geophysics, or similar. MS degree is preferred.
Possesses excellent technical writing skills; must be fluent in English. Fluency/literacy in Spanish a
plus.
Possesses strong interpersonal skills and effective verbal and written communication skills.
Must be able to multitask and work as a team member in an office and aboard survey vessels.
Must meet all physical requirements for offshore certification.
Must be able to travel offshore and secure passport/visas for travel.
Strong PC computer skills are required, including fluency with MS Office and various interpretation
software skills.
Must possess a valid driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle record.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
