The Tower Technician is responsible for performing general repair and maintenance on communications towers, including lighting repairs and monitor repair and maintenance. The incumbent will work with high voltage systems and equipment operation. This position involves significant travel and the incumbent must be able to climb to heights in excess of 500 feet.
## Qualifications
Climb towers in excess of 500 feet and perform physically demanding tasks at such heights.
Perform general repair and maintenance of tower lighting, including strobes, beacons and obstruction lighting, lighting controllers and monitors
Work with high voltage AC and DC electrical systems
Pick-up and deliver supplies, tools, equipment, components, etc.
Utilize dispatching software, following an optimized route and plan of scheduled work tickets
Maintain and submit complete and accurate files, logs, and/or reports as determined by management
Complete in a timely manner all tower inspections, including the Universal Form, Quarterly Light Inspection, Environmental Audit, and Tower Inspection
Perform tower antenna and height mapping for tenant activity and regulatory compliance
Install new lighting systems and remove old lighting systems
Develop and maintain a positive company image by:
Providing superior customer service through the performance of all essential job functions in a timely, efficient, accurate, and safe manner
Adhering to all state and federal traffic laws
Adhering to all federal and state laws and company standards and policies
Maintaining company vehicle in a clean and presentable condition
Effectively utilize available resources, technology, and tools to complete work
Comply with all company policies and procedures and any applicable legal regulatory requirements.
Complete required training within company-mandated time limits. Training includes, but is not limited to: OSHA 10-Hour, Asbestos, New Hire Learning Plan, CPR/First Aid, Tower Climbing and Rescue Certification
Initiate and follow through on capital and Repair & Maintenance projects at each site.
Perform quality control inspections on work performed, insuring highest standards of workmanship are adhered to.
Create scopes of work and conduct on site pre construction walks
Maintain clean, safe, and orderly environment
Follow all safety procedures and policies
Other duties as assigned
Must be at least 21 years old, have a valid driver's license and a safe, clean driving record.
Must possess the physical conditioning and stamina to climb heights in excess of 500 feet and perform physically demanding tasks at such heights.
Familiarity with and ability to use Microsoft Excel, Word, and other software.
Ability to work with functional groups and different level of employees to effectively and achieve goals.
Strong follow-up skills; ability to organize applicable department timelines and follow up with internal and external customer needs.
Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present ideas and suggestions clearly and effectively and to read, comprehend, and carry out instructions.
Strong organizational skills; ability to accomplish multiple tasks within the agreed upon timeframes through effective prioritization of duties and functions in a fast paced environment
Strong track record of building and maintaining solid relationships with internal and external customers and vendors.
Self-motivated; able to work independently with limited supervision to complete tasks and respond to department requests and to collaborate with others to utilize their resources and knowledge to identify quality solutions.
At least one year of general construction, electrical, technical, or mechanical experience preferred
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience required
Approximately 90%of work is performed externally, on-site, outdoors, with exposure to the elements of nature working under normal construction conditions. Approximately 90% travel is required in support of the position's responsibilities.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to climb towers and other structures, spend time on building roof tops, sit, stand, walk, use both hands, and reach and raise items above the head, use fingers to feel and handle, talk and hear. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently is required to stoop, kneel and crouch, lift weight or exert a force up to a maximum of 75 pounds.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
