EHS Center ManagerOrganization OverviewUnited Way of Acadiana is committed to serving Acadia, Lafayette, StMartin, and Vermilion parishesUnited Way fights for the health, education, and financial stability of every person in every communityUnited Way envisions a world where all individuals and families achieve their human potentialAnd our vision is to have an educated, prosperous, and safe Acadiana where all individuals and families achieve their potential.Basic Job SummaryThe United Way Early Learning Center Teacher is responsible for administering site-based program activities for the Early Learning Center (EHS) location in Lafayette or AbbevilleThe United Way Early Learning Center Nutrition Services Director (NSD) is responsible for administering nutrition-based program activities for Early Learning Center (EHS) locations in Abbeville and LafayetteReporting directly to the Center Manager, the teacher will ensure the delivery of high-quality services at all timesThe teacher will be responsible for ensuring that ELC site services are in compliance with all federal, state and local regulations for high quality childcareThis job operates in a professional office environmentThis role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machinesOccasionally, an employee might be asked to carry/transport heavy items up to 40lbsThe teacher will assist the Center Manager in providing training and supervision of EHS staff members as described in the organizational chart.Duties and Responsibilities Community and Partner Engagement In support of the Center Manager maintain relationships with appropriate service partners to deliver high-quality site based services as prescribed by the Early Head Start program requirements. As assigned supervise delivery of services with program partners and service providers. Ensure positive interaction with parents of students and representatives from educational institutions, civic, governmental, faith-based and non-profit organizations that engage with ELC. In cooperation with the Center Manager implement regular outreach and program promotion, including:
approved news releases, flyers, media coverage, telemarketing, correspondence, etc. Provide leadership in the recruitment and retention of capable volunteers to support the ELC program. As requested by the Executive Director, serve as a representative of United Way of Acadiana when collaborative efforts of others coincide with the mission and program goals of the Early Learning Center. Resource Mobilization Assist the Center Manager (CM) with the recruitment, training, mentoring and retention of families to meet program goals and outcomes. Complete all required funder reports accurately and on time. Ensure that program in-kind and volunteer requirements are met. Ensure that direct site services are cost effective and managed wisely. Community Impact Evaluation and Results Ensure that classroom techniques and established curricula are adhered to for program success. Ensure accurate data entry into ELC monitoring programs for use in evaluation. Develop and implement methods of providing a visual report of impact results to the Executive Director. Management and Operational Assist direction and oversight of the facility for the site-based services, reporting mechanical problems immediately and supervising that cleanliness and safety are maintained. Ensure high-quality daily operations that meet or exceed program requirements. Monitor food service program Monitor the use of technology in the teaching-learning process. Monitor the availability of health services, including medical, dental, nutritional and mental are provided to children enrolled in the site-based services. Ensure usage of the approved innovative instructional materials and scheduling of instructional activities that maximize learning. Provide input to the Center Manger to improve and maintain a policy program manual that is consistent with the regulations and guidelines of the Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families, and Office of Head Start. Confer regularly with personnel under your direct supervision to discuss performance and to jointly develop improvement objectives for professional growth. Ensure that all staff involved are knowledgeable about current policies and procedures. Assist families under your supervision in achieving their goals and meeting their needs. Execute special projects and assignments as needed. Attend ELC Policy Council meetings as needed, staff meetings and training conferences as assigned. Exhibit high ethical standards and morals and embrace organizational values. Perform any job-related tasks deemed necessary Execute special projects and assignments as needed. Provide excellent customer service for volunteers, donors, and partners including relationship building with committee volunteers and their admins Creates an atmosphere that respects and embraces engagement of all people, ideas and backgrounds and aligns with United Way's values. Nutrition Work together with families and staff to identify each child's nutritional needs, taking into account family and staff concerns. Become aware of family eating patterns, including cultural preferences, special dietary requirements for each child with nutrition related health problems, and the feeding requirements of infants and toddlers and each child with disabilities. For infants and toddlers provide current feeding schedules, amounts and the types of food provided (including whether breast milk or formula and baby food is used; meal patterns; new foods introduced; food intolerances and preferences; voiding patterns; and observations related to developmental changes in feeding and nutrition) This information must be updated regularly and provided to the parents/guardians of each child enrolled in the UW-EHS program. Ensure all CACFP guidelines and meal monitoring regulations are being met. Accommodate all medically based diets or dietary requirements for students. Comply with all applicable Federal, State, and local food safety and sanitation laws including those related to the storage, preparation and service of food and health of food handlers. Promote parent educational activities which must include opportunities to assist individual families with food preparation and nutritional skills.
