Preferred to reside in parishes served under each region:
Greater New Orleans; Baton Rouge; Thibodaux; Lafayette; Calcasieu; Alexandria; Shreveport; Monroe; and, Hammond.
MONDAY - FRIDAY 8-4:
30PM Salary- $50,000-$60,000 The COVID-19 Communications Coordinator will disseminate routine informational material through various media to inform the public about OPH's COVID-19 programs and services, inform executive and administrative staff about progress of media/communication activities, and assist in developing and implementing COVID-19 and other vaccine-related communications programs for the regional OPH office.
There will be one of these positions in each of the nine public health regions of the state.
This position may require travel to various parts of the public health region in which they are assigned/located.
Job Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism, or relevant field preferred Positive attitude, strong work ethic and a collaborative, team-first approach Excellent communication skills, with exceptional proficiencies in writing and editing Understanding of the media, including social media Understanding of the local community including healthcare organizations Previous media or marketing experience highly preferred Solid computer skills Excellent organization and time management Passion for public health Communications Coordinator Duties & Responsibilities Communicate critical information effectively to the public; especially related to vaccinations including COVID-19 vaccinations Write press releases and prepare information for distribution by media outlets Maintain strong relationships with local media representatives and local officials Draft speeches and arrange interviews for Regional Medical Director and other Subject Matter Experts (SME) Coordinate with SMEs as appropriate Coordinate with OPH Immunization Communization Manager and the LDH Bureau of Media and Communications Director Respond to requests for information from media outlets Help maintain and uphold a certain image and identity for the Office of Public Health Examples of Work Gathers, prepares and distributes information about a department, agency, or office to the media and directly to the public on ongoing programs.
Assists in program development and implementation.
Assists in gathering and entering information on the appropriate OPH web page.
Assists with developing and implementing crisis response plans.
Researches and assists in writing news releases.
Contacts media representatives to inform them of special agency events.
Assists in coordinating publicity for regional events; sets up displays, gives tours and audio-visual presentations.
Researches and assists in writing materials for and participates in the layout of informational materials such as newsletters, bulletins, pamphlets, directories, brochures, billboards, fact sheets, and posters.
Assists in developing audio-visual presentations and scripts.
